How to Choose the Right Depth
Measure Your Item
Measure the thickest part from front to back. Add at least a quarter inch of clearance so nothing presses against the acrylic front.
Account for Layers
If you're placing items at different planes, like a photo behind a medal, add up all the layers plus spacing between them.
When in Doubt, Go Deeper
A little extra depth looks fine, but an item pressing against the acrylic doesn't. If you're between two options, pick the deeper one.

Our Ultra Deep shadowbox frames offer 3.5 inches of usable depth, our deepest option by far. They come in matte black and bright white, with 1.25-inch solid wood moulding.
How do I choose the right depth for my shadow box?
Measure the thickest item you want to display from front to back, then add at least a quarter inch of clearance so nothing presses against the acrylic. Standard depth (0.875 inches) works for flat items like medals and coins. Medium (1 to 1.5 inches) fits folded fabric and stacked objects.
